Ebou lives in Kafountine and works as an artist both in fabric using traditional bogolon (natural dyeing) methods as well as using cement as a sculptural material. He makes a range of work with cement including decorative seats and beds.

The baobab tree can be found in an important and central position in many traditional villages. The woman is depicted as a baobab tree in a village with a symbol for Africa on the trunk along with the rising sun which signifies the importance of life.

The man is also in the form of a baobab with symbols for love in the form of a heart and the need to travel for work in the form of a compass.

This shows two people in the form of baobab trees and depicts a view of creation in paradise. The two boababs embrace but on the left you see the devil playing a flute accompanied by a snake.

Ebou’s tree theme continues but this time depicts a woman with a stick and a food bowl asking for food whilst her child stands behind. His exposed ribs show his hunger.
